Before I Fall Movie Synopsis:
The movie is a vivid combination of ‘Groundhog Day’ and ‘Mean Girls’, where the theme is taken from the ‘Groundhog Day’ and the essence of teenage alpha females are taken from the popular movie ‘Mean Girls’. The movie shows Samantha Kingston to have all the things in her life that a teenager dreams of. She has a loving boyfriend, great girlfriends, and a great future to look ahead to. Things change when she dies in a car crash day, only to relive that particular day again and again. Samantha tries to unravel the mysteries of her life. She finds out things he didn’t know. She unmasks the people who are dearest to her. It makes her realize how even one day can change things for good and bad.

The story starts off with Samantha, a student in the “in crowd” is about to lose her virginity from one of the most popular guys there. The story follows up to a point where Samantha gets trapped in a time loop and the day of her death is repeated over the time loop.

The journey of the time loop takes her to different stages of her life. She gets confused at times, grieves at times for how the events take place, and even get terrorized at times.

Samantha relives her death several times over a week and relives the day of her death seven times over seven days. Every day, She unravels something new. She tries to save herself from the death but then she loses her friend because of that. On the final day, Samantha wakes with some sense of peace, because she got to know that the ultimate sacrifice has to be made in order to fix the things. She has to die before her friend in order to save her. On the last day, Samantha pushes her friend away from the traffic, and takes the full force of the crash on herself, and die in the process. Many people would be furious as Samantha had to die at the end, but the novel and the movie has been building up to this sacrifice since day one of it. Although some people may think on different lines, but in the world that Oliver has created for the book, and thus the movie, Samantha’s sacrifice is what gives her life meaning. She embraced her life and love that she got and that is the true meaning of what it is to live. I am sure that would make you excited for watching the movie. Ready for it? Before I Fall Review:
The movie has got mixed reviews. People have really liked the portrayal of Samantha Kingston by Zoey. Apart from all the characters, The lead character seems confident all throughout the film. But the repeated instances of reliving part seems monotonous after a time and It takes some time to grab the viewer’s attention to the finer details. The screenplay of the movie takes it from New England to brooding majesty of Pacific Northwest. A moody feeling and a sense of mortality prevails in the dramatic visuals. This feels like almost a character that swings between life and death. The movie seems to highly disappointing at the end. With the sacrificial ending, the heavy hand feeling isn’t really admirable. Along the way, lush nature of the teenage period were portrayed in a lot of scenes and they were, not to mention, compelling. Overall, The movie has been earning generally favorable reviews and certainly a one time watch for the performance of the young cast.

Before I Fall: Focus on News

“Before I fall: Stuck in a melodramatic loop”
If you can live the last day of your life repeatedly, You would be much more interested in striking the things off your bucket list or fly away to the places you were meaning to visit but couldn’t. Unlike that, teenagers have high school problems to deal with. So, there is a lot of melodrama in the movie, along with the time loop factor involved making it a melodramatic loop roller coaster ride for the audience.

“Before I fall’ is a ‘Groundhog Day’ for Millennials”
Just like the cult classic of 1993, where a weatherman is stuck in a time loop and relives one day over and over again until he decides to be a better man, ‘Before I Fall’ is just that, with all the teenage drama you can imagine. It is indeed a combination of the Lindsay Lohan-starring ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘Groundhog Day’. Although ‘Groundhog Day’ is a great classic, but at that time, it was not an astounding success. But ‘Groundhog Day’ did make up for becoming a movie that leads to a paradigm shift in US film industry.
