The film Miss Peregrine’s home for peculiar children is an American dark fantasy film based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Ransom Riggs, who was in habit of photo collection but on the advice of the editor of the publication he decided to formulate his collection into a novel. The film is a dark fantasy American film, directed by Tim Burton and written by Jane Goldman. The movie is produced by Peter Chemin and Jenno Topping. The music is directed by Michael Higham.
The film starts with a 16 year old boy Jacob ‘Jake’ (Asa Butterfield) who has been grown up listening real life stories from his grandfather, Abraham ‘Abe’ Portman, about his encounters with monsters, witches and hollogasts. Jake used to disbelieve his grandpa but one odd day, he received a weird call from his grandfather in a pain stricken voice, Jake and his friend Shelly rushed to their home but found his grandfather dyeing in the woods behind. His last words were “The bird, the loop and September 3, 1943”. This was a clue from his side. Suddenly a demon appeared to Jake, who tried to kill Shelly but was timed shot dead by Jake. From that very day, Jake started believing his grandpa’s versions.
His family took Jake to a Psychiatrist, Dr. Golan (Alison Janey) who judged Jake to be suffering from hallucination. Jake convinces his father (Chris O’ Dwod) to took him Wales in search of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
When he reaches the spot, he finds it destroyed and as he explores all peculiar children greets him, meanwhile they enters a cave where Jake was unwelcomed by others and was thrown cups and plates over him, other children saved him. Children took him to Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, where he found people wearing 1940’s attires and he was greeted by Miss Peregrin and introduces them to her own created time loop. There he meets the headmistress of the house Miss Alma Le Fay Peregrine (Eva Green).
There he comes to know about the whole story of time loop, “Ymbryne”, who can convert into a bird and can manipulate time or create loops, hollowgasts which is a monster like creature, born under failed attempt into using an “Ymbryne” to become immortal. Hollogasts can convert into deadly “wights” by consuming eyeballs. “Wights” need to consume children’s eyeballs to regain their humanity.
The movie, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, concludes with the entry of an ornithologist (Rupert Everett), Mr. Barron, who is actually Dr. Golan. He accompanies a team of hollogasts and wights with him. He impounds Miss Peregrine after forcibly converting her into her bird form and meanwhile hollogasts attack the children and wights try to get their eyes, but Miss Avocet, another “Ymbryne”, who saved the children. Suddenly a bomb drops from a plane (being World War II is going on in the loop) and all the hollogasts and wights get destroyed while children are saved by Miss Avocet.
Lastly, Emma, a peculiar who can control wind, finds an escape route through a ship, but Mr. Barron imposts as Jake and now there are two Jakes. Suddenly the original Jake says “he has an ability he has but Barron lacks” (As Jake has an ability to see invisible Hollogasts), a hollogast approaches Mr. Barron under the impression that he is Jake, but as Mr. Barron couldn’t see hollow, he got immediately killed by him.
